How it all started at Mayfield Alpacas
Elaine Sharp began breeding Alpacas in 1998 as a distraction from her ongoing cancer treatment. These unusual creatures quickly caught the public's interest and in 2001 Mayfield Alpacas was established.
It quickly became a popular visitor attraction and in 2006 a small coffee shop was opened and other species were introduced.
In 2024 the business and site were sold to a new owner who is continuing with the good work that was laid before him. Following this takeover, the site has been cleared and landscaped, refenced and pathed throughout. The café has been completely refitted and rebranded with a healthy and wholesome breakfast and lunch menu available. Visitors can eat in or take away.

The tour is very well presented and informative. The guide was knowledgeable and approachable throughout and easily answered all questions. The food in the cafe is good but the servers seem a bit tacky, our food was visible in the serving hatch for at least 5 minutes before it was...
